Rescue Me ID: 18-02-15-00420Daisy (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Daisy is definitely a husky puppy with lots of energy to burn and typical puppy antics but she is getting structure and training at her foster home. She's a quick learner and eager to please. She's learning to walk on leash and would make a great running partner. She loves to play with her furry foster brother and knows when to back off when he gets a little grumpy. She does jump up on humans to greet them so she's learning manners too. Returned to rescue 2/10/2018 due to being too rambunctious for young son; originally adopted 11/21/2017.

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-31-00344Kyna (female)

Alaskan Malamute    Age: Senior

Personality: Low Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Hip Dysplasia

We rescued this senior girl (10-12 yrs old), Kyna (Gaelic for wise) FKA Esther 12/13 after we were contacted by the rescue coordinator at the Georgetown shelter earlier in the week as they were hopeful she could still be rescued. We had a foster offer who is partial to the seniors step up so we could take her in. The shelter vet stated she has severe hip dysplasia but 'gets around fine and still does her business outside. She even has pep in her step still! She doesn't care for her paws to be messed with but otherwise is very sweet. She seems to want to play with other dogs and would likely do best with another dog that is calm like her.' ... (Read More)After several trips to our rescue vet, we have learned that sweet Miss Kyna does have a degenerative disc in her spine and well as weakness in her hips aka hip dysplasia. She is currently on both an anti-inflammatory and pain med to help make her more comfortable. Luckily the mammory gland tumors the vet found were benign, which the vet was very excited about for her future! Due to the fact that she needs to gain some weight, the vet did not suggest water treadmill therapy. She also felt that cold laser therapy would not be an option for her as well due to having so many places that would need to be lasered. She did however feel that accupuncture might benefit her, so once she finishes healing up from her spay we will be looking into that option for her. In the meantime....Kyna has developed a love a.k.a. obsession for toys!! Her favorite is trying to see how many toys she can fit in her mouth at once! :) She also loves treats and human food....but her prescription joint food not-so-much. She may be considered a senior, but is has certainly not dulled her personality or love for life! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-04-00441Parfait (female)

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Parfait was found in terrible shape but fortunately she was one of the lucky ones and for a dog that was in critical condition not that long ago, Parfait has sure turned into a real sassy pants. Parfait looks and feels like a million bucks these days! And she couldn't be any sweeter. Her bloodwork results came back and surprised us all that it's all within normal range and she's cleared to go to a foster home!! (We were expecting her to be in medical boarding for another 3 months with remaining treatments!) Due to her kidney disease tho, the Internal Medicine doc at A&M recommended she not go thru the standard HW treatment so we're opting ... (Read More)for the soft/slow kill treatment and not be spayed at this time. There's a chance her kidneys could improve and be able to do the spay and hard kill treatment if still needed. We are now looking for a foster home for her where she can do normal activity but not long runs, etc. Email contactus@texassleddogrescue.org for more info. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-04-00363Tucker2 (male)

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Tucker! This handsome hound was rescued from a shelter, where he was running out of time. Now, he is hanging out with us until he finds a new home! Tucker is looking for a family who knows and understands the Husky breed! To learn more, see Dog's 101 at https://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/dogs-101/videos/siberian-husky. This pretty boy is ALL athlete, and a true testament to his breed. He loves to run, and never tires so for those of you who are already on the trails, or looking to get off the couch more, this boy would make an excellent partner. He excels at just about anything including hiking, biking, trailing, swimming, and ... (Read More)boating! He is ALL husky, and is your average build at around 50 lbs. He loves to talk, as most of his breed do, and enjoys engaging in adorable conversations that seem to turn pretty one sided near the end of it! He is extremely smart, and learns quickly! Though as they say, you can't outsmart a husky, they can be stubborn when they want to! Not to worry though, Tucker has manners and for the majority of the time, knows how to use them! He gets along well with most dogs, but can be a typical jester. He can pick on them at times when the play is over, as most huskies do, but a game of tag, keep away or fetch always grabs his attention! As most of his breed, he can be over confident and driven so a home without cats would be best for Tucker, since prey drive is common with his breed. As for children, like most Huskies they enjoy children because they themselves are pretty childish in personality and nature. However, we prefer a home who has experience with this breed, as they can be mouthy in their play. So older children or those with breed experience, is preferred! Rescue Me ID: 17-07-04-00357Souffle (female)

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Need Gentle Kisses? Then Miz Souffle is the lil' Southern Lady for you!!! Super sweet and gentle with everyone, she is a favorite with whomever meets her and at Doggie Daycare. She may have had a broken pelvis but this girl takes it in stride and enjoys her walks, daycare activities and running in the yard teasing her foster sister Noshy. Let me clarify the last bit, she teases Noshy then runs away to hide behind me :P Note: with humans she can be mouthy and grab your hand in play but will not break skin. And you should see her stamp her little paws when playing with her foster brother Max - you could just die of cuteness overload!!! She ... (Read More)knows how to use a dog door, is leash trained and will come (90% of the time) when called. With an open gate you need to watch her like a hawk as she will try to run past you for a walk about the neighborhood - Souffle 2, Humom 0. She is not a jogging buddy due to her old injuries but she loves a good walk where she can try to chase squirrels or cats. Yup she has high prey drive - no little critters in her future furever family. It would be great if she had some human or fur siblings to keep her company in her new home as she is very social - once she gets to know you. She would not do well with very Hyper Dogs or Children. If you need some good old Southern Lovin, Paw Stompin Cuteness then Miz Souffle is the lil' lady for you!!! (Less)

Alexander is a young, playful boy with humans and gets along with his husky foster siblings. He is crate trained and house trained. He could be an only dog or with a submissive, laid back type dog. He needs a patient owner who isn't in a hurry for feeding or potty breaks as he does it on his own time.

This poor girl was brought into the shelter 10/26/16! She was diagnosed with sarcoptic mange (contagious), HW+, hook, whip, round and tape worms and emaciated! Once she gains some weight then she will start heartworm treatment and then have surgery on her pelvis.

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-29-00431Romeo (male)

Siberian Husky    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Romeo is done with his heartworm treatment and ready for his Fur-ever home!! This boy is very sweet and loves to play! He has high energy according to his foster mom and gets the zoomies several times a day especially now that it is cooler! He loves the dog park and he loves water!!! He will sit when commanded and still learning more manners everyday. He pulls a little bit on walks but for the most part walks well with his foster pack. He has some dominant traits in him and would like to be the boss, but his brothers are older and larger so he is stuck at the bottom of the totem pole! When he first came home, he showed some food aggression ... (Read More)and he is still working on that, and he is weary of people approaching him at night, nothing a little dedicated training can't fix. He will still try to mark occasionally but usually pretty good. He is close with a younger husky sibling and has bonded well so he would do best in a home with other dogs, preferably submissive! He loves to chase squirrels so cats are probably out for him, although he has not been formally tested (Less)

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Leela is a sweet 7yr old that was transferred from the Iola Sanctuary after being returned. The sanctuary is closing and we were asked if we could help. Fortunately Cato's family was looking to foster again and needed an older, more laid back girl. She's been a bit more playful than we were expecting but it's all good. She appears to be house trained and doing well with her foster brother.

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sarai (Hebrew for princess) had been out near a toll plaza for a couple of weeks in mid July and after many attempts she was finally caught and we took her into rescue. It hasn't been an easy road trying to get her vetted and spayed as she's not fond of strangers or vets but we finally had success today! Sadly she is HW+ so she will need treatment for that. We are also looking into a special trainer and/or behavioralist consult to help us work thru her issues with meeting new humans. With her foster family she is very sweet and a smart girl. She is going into the crate better, knows to go to back door to potty and is curious about kitties ... (Read More)but so far so good there. (Less)
