Rescue Me ID: 17-08-15-00645Shelby (female)

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sweet Shelby is a beautiful young lady that loves to snuggle! She is a tri-pod due to having her leg amputated because she had a foot wound that had gone too long untreated. But luckily, she has adjusted well and is loving life. She still gets along well with her husky siblings, and loves one-on-one cuddle time with her foster dad.

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Wimberly is the sweetest pup!! She might lick you to death, but that is about it!! She would love to be by your side, 24/7! She is a complete velcro dog, she will follow you everywhere and as close as possible, if she could choose she would constantly be in your lap. She is fully house broken and behaves very well outside of her crate, she hasn't chewed anything other than doggy toys. She is a little food possessive, she sits waiting for treats but grabs them a bit too eagerly, we are working on that and it is hard to take food or treats from her, we are working on that too. It is not aggressive though, more overly excited about it. Wimberly ... (Read More)still pulls on leash, but enjoys walks and runs even though I think she would be happy in a home with less running too..in general the happiest pup ever. (Less)

Ghost is a 2-3 yr old cutie who was a frequent inmate at the shelter in LA from his escape attempts! Rescue Me ID: 17-07-04-00441Parfait (female)

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Parfait was found in terrible shape but fortunately she was one of the lucky ones and for a dog that was in critical condition not that long ago, Parfait has sure turned into a real sassy pants. Parfait looks and feels like a million bucks these days! And she couldn't be any sweeter. Her bloodwork results came back and surprised us all that it's all within normal range and she's cleared to go to a foster home!! (We were expecting her to be in medical boarding for another 3 months with remaining treatments!) Due to her kidney disease tho, the Internal Medicine doc at A&M recommended she not go thru the standard HW treatment so we're opting ... (Read More)for the soft/slow kill treatment and not be spayed at this time. There's a chance her kidneys could improve and be able to do the spay and hard kill treatment if still needed. We are now looking for a foster home for her where she can do normal activity but not long runs, etc. Email contactus@texassleddogrescue.org for more info. (Less)

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Tucker! This handsome hound was rescued from a shelter, where he was running out of time. Now, he is hanging out with us until he finds a new home! Tucker is looking for a family who knows and understands the Husky breed! To learn more, see Dog's 101 at https://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/dogs-101/videos/siberian-husky. This pretty boy is ALL athlete, and a true testament to his breed. He loves to run, and never tires so for those of you who are already on the trails, or looking to get off the couch more, this boy would make an excellent partner. He excels at just about anything including hiking, biking, trailing, swimming, and ... (Read More)boating! He is ALL husky, and is your average build at around 50 lbs. He loves to talk, as most of his breed do, and enjoys engaging in adorable conversations that seem to turn pretty one sided near the end of it! He is extremely smart, and learns quickly! Though as they say, you can't outsmart a husky, they can be stubborn when they want to! Not to worry though, Tucker has manners and for the majority of the time, knows how to use them! He gets along well with most dogs, but can be a typical jester. He can pick on them at times when the play is over, as most huskies do, but a game of tag, keep away or fetch always grabs his attention! As most of his breed, he can be over confident and driven so a home without cats would be best for Tucker, since prey drive is common with his breed. As for children, like most Huskies they enjoy children because they themselves are pretty childish in personality and nature. However, we prefer a home who has experience with this breed, as they can be mouthy in their play. So older children or those with breed experience, is preferred! Rescue Me ID: 17-07-04-00357Souffle (female)

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Need Gentle Kisses? Then Miz Souffle is the lil' Southern Lady for you!!! Super sweet and gentle with everyone, she is a favorite with whomever meets her and at Doggie Daycare. She may have had a broken pelvis but this girl takes it in stride and enjoys her walks, daycare activities and running in the yard teasing her foster sister Noshy. Let me clarify the last bit, she teases Noshy then runs away to hide behind me :P Note: with humans she can be mouthy and grab your hand in play but will not break skin. And you should see her stamp her little paws when playing with her foster brother Max - you could just die of cuteness overload!!! She ... (Read More)knows how to use a dog door, is leash trained and will come (90% of the time) when called. With an open gate you need to watch her like a hawk as she will try to run past you for a walk about the neighborhood - Souffle 2, Humom 0. She is not a jogging buddy due to her old injuries but she loves a good walk where she can try to chase squirrels or cats. Yup she has high prey drive - no little critters in her future furever family. It would be great if she had some human or fur siblings to keep her company in her new home as she is very social - once she gets to know you. She would not do well with very Hyper Dogs or Children. If you need some good old Southern Lovin, Paw Stompin Cuteness then Miz Souffle is the lil' lady for you!!! (Less)

Siberian Husky    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs

Myka is a 7 mo female husky who ended up at the shelter on a bite quarantine! We're pretty sure she was just being a typical, rambunctious puppy who needs some training especially with nipping and snapping when she doesn't get her way!! The shelter reached out to us about taking her into rescue. She does like to nip and 'bite' to get her way so she needs an experienced owner to help her realize that is not acceptable behavior

Alaskan Malamute    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Kyra is available for adoption or foster after being adopted over a year. Within the last couple of weeks she's started acting out by breaking fence planks and being destructive. She doesn't do well in the crate. Her owners say nothing has changed in family life or environment to cause this and she just had her annual. 'She does well at doggie play days & doesn't seem to have any issues with other dogs large or small...She loves to talk to you, and will dash about the house and chase her tail, but this playfulness has taken some time to come about and lasts only for a brief period of time. We took her to dog training when we got her, she ... (Read More)does very well on a leash, but doesn't come well which is another concern, in the house/yard she'll sit, sort of stay, lay down...none of them extremely well, but she does them.' We are now looking for a committed adopter to help her thru these new issues!! She now weighs 124lbs and needs to lose about 10lbs. Originally adopted 1/3/2016; returned to rescue 5/11/2017 (Less)

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Akela is a tiny little girl (34lbs), full of the energy of a husky twice her size as she can outlast 5 of her foster siblings at times! She is very smart and learns quickly - picked up how to use the doggy door and crate training very easily, though still working on her counter-surfing! Akela would benefit from a doggy playmate but she can be very bossy and hasn't learned when to stop at times. Still working on some resource guarding. She is also extremely human-affectionate; she's never met a stranger. She loves to cuddle and get loving often times butting in on her foster siblings! She likes her kennel and will often go in mid-day to take ... (Read More)a nap and chew on a bone in peace. She sleeps in it through the night. She is being fostered in SW Louisiana!! Originally adopted 5/6/2017; returned 5/20/2017 thru no fault of her own, resident dog was not happy with a fur-sister. (Less)

Siberian Husky    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Romeo is done with his heartworm treatment and ready for his Fur-ever home!! This boy is very sweet and loves to play! He has high energy according to his foster mom and gets the zoomies several times a day especially now that it is cooler! He loves the dog park and he loves water!!! He will sit when commanded and still learning more manners everyday. He pulls a little bit on walks but for the most part walks well with his foster pack. He has some dominant traits in him and would like to be the boss, but his brothers are older and larger so he is stuck at the bottom of the totem pole! When he first came home, he showed some food aggression ... (Read More)and he is still working on that, and he is weary of people approaching him at night, nothing a little dedicated training can't fix. He will still try to mark occasionally but usually pretty good. He is close with a younger husky sibling and has bonded well so he would do best in a home with other dogs, preferably submissive! He loves to chase squirrels so cats are probably out for him, although he has not been formally tested (Less)

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Malachi (my Angel in Hebrew) is a young (1.5 yrs old) gorgeous male who is sweet, laid back yet can be playful. He is an insecure dog who doesn't need or want to interact with dogs until he has a chance to get to know them a little better. He is NOT dominant, but is insecure and fearful. Therefore he needs a patient owner who will learn how to read him and his signals to prevent any kind of adverse reaction (2+ months). He needs slow, controlled introductions to other dogs especially in new environments. This is not just basic obedience training that's needed as he's pretty good with commands, loose leash walking, etc. It's a behavior ... (Read More)issue in how he handles new situations and new dogs. He would be best as an only dog but he can co-exist with other dogs IF the new owner is patient and willing to work with him to establish the rules and limits which can take a couple of months or longer as well as behavioral training. He needs and wants to trust his humans. He is NOT a dog park or event dog...right now but he has potential to be in the distant future. (Less)
